Too Tired to Sleep
About 20 minutes ago, when my alarm clock said 5:00 AM, I bolted awake, almost violently. I got up, had a drink of water, and layed back down. After just a few minutes of staring at the ceiling I concluded that the direct approach wasn't going to help me.
Something is wrong in the world. Very, very wrong.
Then again, it could just be sleeping problems.
I'm buying some sleeping pills today. Anybody know a good brand?

Oddly enough, tylenol pm works well - and is non-addictive. If you need something stronger, go to the doctor and get Ambien. Again, non-addictive and works great. Good luck.
Often sleeping problems are caused by stress, anxiety, or depression (I'm often up at night "worrying" myself to sleep)... I would try meditating with some muscle relaxation exercises. Just imagine all the stress in a particular part of your body traveling to the tips of your fingers and toes and being released. Lather, rinse, repeat, until you're relaxed.
Works like a charm. Or, try to think of a handful of good to great things that happened to you today- if you get your endorphins pumping, you'll fall asleep sooner.
Also, try Celestial Seasonings' Tension Tamer or Sleepy Time teas, as they are both herbal and yumm. (And Celestial Seasonings is an earth and culture-conscious company, so no one and nothing is damaged by their products or procedures... except maybe the plants they harvest)
Or, as a last resort... (Ha, can you say, member of the Insomniacs Guild or what?!) I suggest getting an analgesic-free sleep aid like Unisom (You can get a knock-off from Wal-Mart), because pain-relievers such as acetimetophin can damage the liver if used frequently. Also, buy in gel form, as they kick in faster.
And one last thing... DO NOT buy melatonin, as it has been associated with putting one-time users into comas on the surgical table.

Deja'vu.
Yeah, it usually takes a couple hours for me to fall asleep...mostly due to not being able to calm my mind. I just keep thinking about stuff....plastic bag, plastic bag, plastic bag.....
Hope you sleep better in the future.

I always just get up and work when I can't sleep. I try to take care of the stuff that's bothering me. Oddly enough, I usually don't have trouble the next night. I notice that it also helps if I avoid contact with other human beings. MH
